“Chatible’s accessibility and its ability to leverage the already existing 900 million Messenger users allows people to have anonymous yet meaningful conversations with people around the world that have similar interests as them,” Amro said.
Natural Langauge Processing is a field of computer science, artificial intelligence, and linguistics concerned with the interactions between computers and human (natural) languages.
“It’s a simple fact that people crave human interaction.
At the moment, bot chat AI fails to provide that natural user experience (not yet, at least),” Amro said.
Facebook's Artificial Intelligence Researchers (Fair) were teaching the chatbots, artificial intelligence programs that carry out automated one to one tasks, to make deals with one another.
As part of the learning process they set up two bots, known as a dialog agents, to teach each other about human speech using machine learning algorithms.
Instead, they were using a brand new language created without any input from their human supervisors.
However, researchers at the Facebook AI Research Lab (FAIR) found that they had deviated from script and were inventing new phrases without any human input.
The bots were originally left alone to develop their conversational skills.
When the experimenters returned, they found that the AI software had begun to deviate from normal speech.
He said: ‘It would take off on its own and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate.‘Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.’Billionaire inventor Elon Musk said last month: ‘I keep sounding the alarm bell, but until people see robots going down the street killing people, they don’t know how to react, because it seems too ethereal.’ The bots were attempting to imitate human speech when they developed their own machine language spontaneously - at which point Facebook decided to shut them down.
'Our interest was having bots who could talk to people,' Mike Lewis of Facebook's FAIR programme told Fast Co Design. One of the first games where a user types in natural language to control the flow and direction of the game's story.
